WASHINGTON—March 4, 2024—The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has reported a robust increase in global semiconductor industry sales, totaling $47.6 billion in January 2024. This marks a significant upsurge of 15.2% compared to the same period in 2023, where sales amounted to $41.3 billion. However, there was a marginal decline of 2.1% from the December 2023 total of $48.7 billion. These monthly sales figures are aggregated by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization, utilizing a three-month moving average. SIA, representing 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms, provided this data.
John Neuffer, President and CEO of SIA, commented, “The global semiconductor market has shown impressive strength at the outset of the new year, with year-over-year sales witnessing the largest percentage increase since May 2022. Market growth is anticipated to persist throughout the year, with annual sales forecasted to achieve double-digit growth in 2024 compared to 2023.”
